Important information: The sheets must be of standard density and A4 format, since origami may not work if you use another material.
To assemble the swan, we will need to prepare many small components. They are also called modules.
What is modular origami?
Modular origami is a unique method of creating three-dimensional objects. This style first appeared in China and became the main one when assembling different figures from a huge number of identical parts. They come in different types, but the classic, triangular ones are most often used. For a double swan these are exactly what you will need. They are made using a certain technology, which allows you to connect finished parts by nesting one into the other. As a result, the friction force will hold them together and the models will not fall apart. The structure will be strong, but, at the same time, remain flexible and elastic.
In order to make a classic triangular module, you need to cut a landscape sheet into 32 equal parts. This is not at all difficult to do, just bend the sheet in half 5 times in a row and cut it along the fold line with scissors or a stationery knife. Now that the “material” has been prepared, we can begin making the model.
There is nothing complicated in the design of the modules. Therefore, let's start making our swan. This is what you should end up with:

Material required for work
In order to make such an impressive mountain of blanks, a lot of material will be required. It takes approximately 5-7 hours to create modules. If you have helpers, involve them in the work - together it’s more fun and faster.
As you can see in the photo, we need to prepare a lot of modular parts, approximately 1.5 thousand. If you plan to make the swan monochromatic, use only one paper. But you can create an unusual multi-colored or bright swan - for this you need to buy multi-colored A4 sheets in advance. Our version uses 1322 white and 180 pink modules.
When you have made the blanks, you can begin the main part of the work - assembly.

We offer you clear step-by-step instructions for assembling a double swan from prepared materials:
- We combine several modules in this way.
Step 1 - Then we connect 60 modules (in 2 rows of 30 pieces each) in a circle so that it looks like in the figure.
Step 2 - We take the next steps in the same way. We already have 5 ready-made rows.
Step 3 - We reached 10 rows. Keep in mind that while working you need to bend the workpiece slightly inward - this way you will make it slimmer.
Step 4 - Lay out 5 more rows. Don’t forget to bend and tighten the workpiece so that our swan turns out beautiful and voluminous.
Step 5 - Now that 15 rows have already been assembled, let's start creating the neck, tail and wings. Set aside 6 modules for the neck, 4 for the tail, and 10 for the wings.

Step 8 - Assembling the wings. For the first row of each wing we will need 10 modules.
Step 9 - Let's move on to the second row. From the tail side you need to put on the module, as shown in the figure.
Step 10 - We continue to work on the wings. We put on the next rows the same number of modules as in the previous row.
Step 11 - We are gradually collecting the wings of our double swan from 10 rows. It is important to assemble both wings at the same time, maintaining the same height in each part on different parts.
Step 12 - When 10 rows are lined up, for each subsequent row we use 1 less piece.
Step 13 - Ultimately, you should end up with a product like this. You will spend 770 modules on it. Most of the work has been done.
Step 14 - In order for the resulting structure to be stable, it is necessary to create a stand. Lubricate the modules with glue and secure them. Try to do it evenly so that the craft has reliable support.
Step 15 - When the first row is dry, start gluing the second.
Step 16 - Let's move on to the next component of our craft - the inner wings. We do everything according to a well-established scheme, only we lay out 20 modules in each row.
Step 17 - Make 7 rows. Don't forget to pull the workpiece out from time to time.
Step 18 - We raise our wings. Select 10 modules per side.
Step 19 - Assemble 3 rows as shown in the picture.
Step 20 - When you get to this stage, reduce the number of modules by 1 in each subsequent row.
